Kajol Expresses Frustration Over Hindi Language Request at Event; Watch Now

Amid the ongoing controversy over the Hindi-Marathi language dynamics in Maharashtra, a recent incident involving Bollywood actress Kajol has ignited discussions across social media platforms. A video surfaced online showing Kajol visibly frustrated when a journalist requested her to respond in Hindi during the Maharashtra State Film Awards.

During the event, Kajol was initially asked a question in Marathi, to which she responded fluently, showcasing her respect for the local language and culture. However, the atmosphere shifted when another journalist prompted her to repeat her answer in Hindi. This request seemed to trigger Kajol’s irritation, leading her to respond, “Abhi main Hindi mein bolun? Jisko samajhna hai woh samajh lenge,” which translates to, “Should I speak in Hindi now? Those who need to understand will understand.”

Kajol Gets Angry Over Hindi Speaking

In her interaction with the media, Kajol expressed her pride in attending the awards and receiving recognition in Marathi. Her frustration was palpable when she was asked to switch languages, a request she found unnecessary and somewhat disrespectful to the regional context of the event. Following her initial response, she was further questioned about her interest in working in Marathi films. Kajol reiterated her willingness to do so, provided she receives a suitable script, and added with a hint of sarcasm, “Aur Hindi mein bata doon toh zaroor karoongi (laughs),” meaning, “And if I have to say it in Hindi, I will definitely do it.”

The video clip quickly gained traction online, with many users expressing their support for Kajol’s stance. One user commented, “Well done @itsKajolD, it’s not mandatory to say everything in Hindi. Why should one speak in Hindi at the Maharashtra State Film Awards?” This sentiment resonated with many, highlighting the ongoing debate about linguistic identity and cultural representation in a state where Marathi is the mother tongue.

Another user noted, “Even Marathi actors and leaders have not the guts to speak like this,” praising Kajol for her boldness. A third comment read, “Beautiful! Marathi must be the priority in Mumbai. Full support from Tamil Nadu,” indicating that the issue transcends regional boundaries and resonates with broader linguistic pride across India.

Kajol’s Upcoming Films & Shows

On the professional front, Kajol has been busy with various projects. She was recently seen in the horror-thriller Maa, which unfortunately did not perform well at the box office. Following that, she starred in the film Sarzameen alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is currently streaming on JioHotstar.

Looking ahead, Kajol is set to appear in the web series The Trial Season 2, which will begin streaming on JioHotstar from September 19, 2025. As she continues to navigate her career, her recent comments and actions reflect a growing awareness of the cultural and linguistic nuances that shape the entertainment landscape in India.
