Fans celebrated the achievements of their favorite stars at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 on Saturday, June 21. The event was held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and many famous faces gathered to make it a memorable evening. But there was arguably one star of the show: Tyla.
Tyla Had a Big Night at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2025
South African-born singer Tyla has had a remarkable year. Not only did she host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, but she also took home the coveted orange blimp for Favorite Global Music Star. The ceremony is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, and this year, a staggering 5,000 gallons of slime were prepared to drench both celebrities and audience members alike.
Tyla was among the stars who got drenched in the iconic green slime! But how did she feel about this sticky situation while looking glamorous onstage? In an interview with Parade, published on June 21, the “Jump” singer shared her thoughts. She admitted that while she had been in rehearsals for the show, getting covered in slime was not part of the preparation process.
“I haven’t felt it yet,” she told Parade with a laugh. “So it’s gonna be a surprise. I’m not nervous. I’m excited low-key, but I’m just hoping it doesn’t blast me. Like, that’s the one thing I’m worried about, but I think it’ll be fun.” Her reaction was captured on camera, with fans in the crowd clearly enjoying the moment.
Other celebrities who faced the slime shower included MGK, Jack Black, and the group KATSEYE. Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo also got slimed while accepting the Favorite Kids TV Show award, adding to the evening’s playful chaos.
Tyla Discusses Her Work on Soundtrack for the ‘Smurfs’ Movie
Tyla’s achievements extend beyond the Kids’ Choice Awards. She recently released a soundtrack titled “Everything Goes With Blue,” in collaboration with music heavyweights Rihanna, Cardi B, and DJ Khaled for the upcoming “Smurfs” movie, set to premiere on July 18. In her interview with Parade, she reflected on the significance of this project, saying, “It means a lot.”
“You know, being on, like, literally, the ‘Smurfs’ is such a fun movie. I love the Smurfs and I’ve always wanted to have a fun type of soundtrack, so I think that one was really perfect. And, yeah, I don’t know, it’s just fun. I’m enjoying doing things like this, like Kids’ Choice, the Smurfs. I feel like the kids also need some Tyla!” she added, showcasing her enthusiasm for connecting with younger audiences.
Adding to the excitement of the evening, Rihanna was honored at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 when she accepted the prestigious Icon Award. In a playful twist, she gave the cue to cover the audience in blue slime, further enhancing the whimsical spirit of the event.
